Changes to Australian Passport Fees, January 2018
Australian passport fees increased as of 1 January 2018. See list of fees.
Passport Service Fees - August 2018
The fees apply and are payable under the provisions of the Australian Passports (Applications fees) Act 2005 and the Australian Passports Determination 2005.
Please note that due to the exchange rate variations, the processing fee can vary from month to month.
An overseas surcharge applies to all applications lodged overseas, whether paid for overseas or in Australia. However, if an application is lodged in Australia but paid for overseas, the overseas surcharge does not apply. The fee is not applicable to emergency passport applications.
As of 1 January 2016, child applicants aged 16 or 17 are issued with a 10 year validity passport. Minors under the age of 16 continue to be issued with a five year validity passport. All minor passport applications are required to pay the minor overseas surcharge fee.
Applicants who cannot wait for the normal turnaround time for the issuing of a full validity Australian Passport and need to request an Emergency Passport to meet their immediate travel needs, need to pay an Emergency Passport fee.
Emergency Passports will continue to be processed within two working days (48 hours) provided all requirements are fulfilled.
Payment can be made by:
- EFTPOS/multibanco (Portuguese debit cards only)
- credit cards
- bank transfer - only under the Embassy's instructions
CASH AND PERSONAL CHEQUES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
If you wish for your passport to be mailed to you, you MUST also pay an additional fee of Eur 3.00 for postage to enable your passport to be sent to you via registered mail.
