A passport fee is payable upon lodgement of a passport application. Fees for all applications will be charged in AUD (subject to exchange rates and any overseas transaction fees).
The fees apply and are payable under the provisions of the Australian Passports (Applications fees) Act 2005 and the Australian Passports Determination 2005.
Child applicants aged 16 or 17 are issued with a 10 year validity passport. Minors under the age of 16 continue to be issued with a five year validity passport. All minor passport applications are required to pay the minor overseas surcharge fee.
Applicants who are unable to wait the normal turnaround time for the issuing of a full validity Australian Passport and request an Emergency Passport to meet their immediate travel needs, are required to pay the Emergency Passport fee.

1 Overseas applicants with full visa pages but more than two year's validity remaining on their current passport may apply for a replacement passport. Conditions apply. The replacement passport will have the same expiry date as the passport being replaced / No estrangeiro, requerentes poderão substituir passaportes com páginas completas por um passaporte de 35 páginas com a mesma data de validade do passaporte que está a ser substituido. Acceptable methods of payment
Payment by card only (Visa, MasterCard and Cirrus/Maestro). Cash, cheques, Apply Pay and Google Pay are not accepted.
Fees correct as of 1 July 2024. Fees are subject to annual indexation. No GST is payable on passport fees.
